    Would You Rather Wheel

The would you rather wheel serves up a random dilemma each spin. Players choose a side and explain why, which gets conversations going fast.

What is the would you rather wheel?

The would you rather wheel is a free online spinner loaded with 6 starter entries, such as Fly or be invisible?, Live by the sea or in the mountains?, Talk to animals or speak every language?, Always be early or always be late?. You can change every slice, add your own items, set odds and keep a record of each result. People also search for it as “would you rather questions spinner”, “would you rather generator”.

Because every slice is on screen and the spin plays out in front of everyone, the result feels fair. That matters when people care about the outcome.

Tips for the would you rather wheel

    • Keep questions short so they fit on slices.
    • Use Elimination to avoid repeats.
    • Add an image to each question for younger players.

    How to play

Spin the wheel to reveal a dilemma, then everyone chooses one side and explains why. In a room, players can move to the left or right wall to vote. On a video call, they can use reactions or type in chat. The fun is in the reasoning: why would you rather talk to animals than speak every language? Encourage players to defend unpopular answers and to change their minds if convinced.

    Light and funny dilemmas

Would you rather have a rewind button or a pause button for your life? Always have to sing instead of speak, or dance everywhere you walk? Have hands that are always cold or feet that are always wet? Live in a treehouse or on a houseboat? Have a pet dragon or a pet unicorn? Never use a phone again or never watch TV again? Be the funniest person in the room or the smartest?

    Thoughtful dilemmas for older groups

Would you rather know the date of every important moment in your life or be surprised by all of them? Be able to change one thing about the past or see one thing about the future? Live a hundred years in the past or a hundred years in the future? Have more time or more money? Be famous for something you didn't do or unknown for something great you did?

    In the classroom

Would-you-rather questions make excellent speaking and writing prompts. Ask students to answer in full sentences, giving two reasons and a counter-argument. Use subject-themed dilemmas: in history, would you rather live in ancient Rome or ancient Egypt? In science, would you rather explore the deep ocean or Mars? Language teachers can use the dilemmas to practise conditional sentences ("I would rather… because…").

    Team building

At work, would-you-rather questions are a low-pressure ice-breaker. They reveal personality without asking anything personal. Keep questions work-safe and inclusive: would you rather have a four-day week or work from anywhere in the world? Present to a thousand people or write a fifty-page report?

    Writing your own questions

Good dilemmas balance two options that are similarly appealing or similarly awkward. If everyone picks the same side, the question isn't working. Keep each slice short; you can put the full question in a list and number the slices. Invite players to add their own questions to the wheel between rounds.

    Variations

Points for the minority: players who choose the less popular side score a point. Speed round: thirty seconds per question, no explanations. Debate mode: two players argue opposite sides and the group votes for the more convincing case. Story mode: after choosing, describe your first day living with that choice.

    Example

A youth group leader opens each session with three spins. Players move to the left or right of the room to vote, and one person from each side explains their choice. It takes five minutes, gets everyone moving and talking, and settles the group before the main activity.
